Singer and Merchant Museum Finsterwalde
The museum in the singer city of Finsterwalde has focused on choral music since 2010. An exhibition illustrates the history of choral singing in Finsterwalde and the surrounding region from the reformation to the 20th century. The burlesque "The singers of Finsterwalde" from which the city received its epithet is also featured. Today, four choirs hold their practices in the museum which regularly organizes concerts in the museum courtyard. One special feature remains the originally preserved colonial goods shop as well as a drugstore from GDR times. The good shop was opened by the merchant Wittke in the same building in 1850. That way, visitors are invited to experience palpable history in an authentic setting.
