Monastery Neuzelle
The monastery dates from 1268 and represents one of the most significant, completely preserved monastery grounds in northern and eastern Europe. It is the task of the Neuzelle Foundation, founded in 1996, to restore the historical monastery, make it accessible to the public and promote education, science and culture. During the summer months, the monastery grounds are home to an extensive cultural program. Visitors of the Cistercian Monastery Neuzelle will be welcomed by historical monastery grounds with two baroque churches, the gothic cloister and exhibitions about the history of the Cistercian order and the "Heavenly Theater" - baroque backdrop for performances on church holidays. An orangery dating back to the 18th century is in the baroque garden.
