School Museum Schwarzenburg
The small village of Schwarzenburg is located on the border between the Spreewald and the Niederlausitzer Landrücken in the municipality of Heideblick, surrounded by dense pine forests. In the centre of the village is a listed architectural gem: the schoolhouse, built in 1909 and consisting of a classroom, prayer room and teacher's flat, now houses the school museum.
The fact that an important part of the village's history is told here is primarily due to the tireless work of the last village school teacher, Helmuth Österitz. He had the idea of refurbishing the one-room school, which was closed in 1972 after 63 years of teaching, and preserving it as a museum for posterity. Today, the museum is run by the Schwarzenburg local history association and is waiting for your visit!
