Dominical Monastery Prenzlau
Visitors to Prenzlau can enjoy art and culture behind the walls of the monastery "Holy Cross" where Dominican monks once lived. Today, the medieval structure is home to the Museum of Cultural History, the event center "Kulturarche", the historical city archive, the library as well as a visitor service with shop and gallery. The Museum of Cultural History presents a permanent exhibition about the cultural history of the region, changing special exhibitions as well as an exposition about the classicist landscape painter and friend of Goethe's Jacob Hackert. The outstanding exhibits of the museum include the museum treasure from Seehausen which contains the archeological findings of medieval quotidian culture from the Cistercian monastery Marienwerder. Furthermore, the gallery regularly organizes personal exhibitions of artists from the Uckermark region.
