GDR History Museum Perleberg

This privately founded museum was created by people who were active in the resistance and opposition in the GDR. It presents exhibits from every-day life in the GDR and from socialist ideology. Adjacent is a publicly accessible library. The museum has collected a plethora of print products from political parties, mass organizations, national education and the military. Theme nights organized by the History of the 20th Century Association in Prignitz take place regularly. The goal of the documentation center is to portray every-day life and repressions from GDR time to stimulate critical reflection.
