The Geopark Visitor and Information Centre
The Geopark Visitor and Information Centre is home to the "Ice Age Experience" exhibition. Here, the formation of today's landscapes is presented, which were created after the last extensive inland glaciation, the Weichselian glaciation. On three floors, the exhibition provides information about the genesis of the landscape with the formation of the glacial series, the post-glacial flora and fauna and the recolonisation by humans after the inland ice receded.
The Ice Age Museum is located in the former steam mill in the municipality of Ziethen, district of Groß-Ziethen, which was in operation as a mill or used as a storehouse between 1890 and 1991. The building has housed the permanent exhibition since 2012.
The nearby Sperlingsherberge and Ihlowberge adventure sites (former stone pits) provide insights into the industrial utilisation of the boulders from the block packs of the terminal moraine. Guided tours of the exhibition and the core area of the Geopark can be booked. The Geopark Centre is also a stamping point for the "Via Imperii - Jakobsweg Szczecin - Berlin" pilgrimage route.
