Gerhart-Hauptmann Museum Erkner
The museum provides insights into the life and work of the poet Gerhart Hauptmann who lived in this house for four years. In some parts of the villa, the original furnishings have been preserved until today. A collection of secondary literature about Gerhart and Carl Hauptmann, a collection of theater-related items, Hauptmann portraits and work illustrations, complete and single editions of his works as well as an extensive archive containing photographs and newspaper clippings, ranging from the beginnings of the Hauptmann critique to the present, are on display. Furthermore, the villa is used for readings, concerts, film screenings and special exhibitions. The museum is part of the museum association Gerhart Hauptmann.
