History Parlor Birkenwerder

A circle of friends was initiated in 2006 with the mission of preserving the history of the town, association and the region and to present it to visitors of the town. The district let the circle use premises in the Clara-Zetkin House free of charge where the representative of the Reichstag for the German Communist Party (KPD) lived from 1929 until 1932. Several small rooms hold the permanent exhibitions which includes a historical kitchen. One to two changing exhibitions are put on display annually. They are often organized in cooperation with other local institutions. The association also offers mediation projects, such as the popular "Laundry day in old times".
