The collectivization of the agricultural system in the GDR was completed in 1960. With it came the promise: Equal life conditions in city and country! Today, this remains but a dream. But it was more than promises in the villages of the GDR. A whole lot was done for consumption and culture. The guest book of the cultural center Altranft documents the versatility of offers: MTS Village Academy, Mother Consulting, Scouting Afternoon and of course collective television ("Alles für Sie!" or "Maske in Schwarz"). More than 2,600 visitors were counted during that year. Emblematically, the cultural center in Altranft was housed in the former palace. Soon after the fall of the wall, the socialist infrastructure in the country largely fell apart. Our cultural center had to close as well. But a cultural new tenant arrived soon after: The Open-Air Museum Altranft which is well worth seeing.
