Natural History Museum Potsdam

The exhibitions of the Natural History Museum Potsdam invite visitors to explore the world of animals in the state of Brandenburg. It is the only natural history museum in the state of Brandenburg with a permanent exhibition and focuses on current topics regarding nature and the environment. Over time, the museum has procured a collection of more than 250,000 objects from the natural world of the state of Brandenburg. They are the foundation for scientific research about the change of biological diversity in Brandenburg. The Natural History Museum is located in the former "Estates House of the Zauche Region". The protected building was constructed in 1770 according to architectural plans by Gottfried Christian Unger and reclaimed its baroque front garden in 2005. One highlight of the exhibition is the cold-water aquarium with 40 local fish species.
