Museum Barberini Potsdam

The museum Barberini was inaugurated in 2017 at the newly upcoming city centre in Potsdam, ‘Am Alten Markt’ (Old Market) and vis-a-vis the Brandenburg’s state parliament. Within no time, the art museum advanced to become a visitors’ magnet. It presents every year three changing exhibitions with works of masters of the Old School to contemporary art. Kandinsky, Hopper and Beckmann as well as a show about art and artists in the GDR gave upbeat. The exhibits are sourced partly from the private collection of the museum’s founder and patron Hasso Plattner. The exhibitions are accompanied by an extensive mediation and educational programme. In workshops, for example, children at the exhibition go on imaginative explorative journeys and try their skills at various creative painting techniques.
